Credit for Attendance

VSIAS enjoys the privilege to be an education provider for a number of credentialing and academic organizations. Inherent in this privilege is the ethical responsibility that VSIAS accepts to ensure that attendance credits are awarded fairly and honestly. To this end, an individual must attend a minimum of 80 percent of a session to receive credit. VSIAS Faculty will take steps to ensure this is the case. We trust you will understand and support why there must be no exceptions to this requirement. Additionally, VSIAS will take required actions in those cases should an individual misrepresent membership or credentials status.  VSIAS provides a professional learning experience and therefore has an ethical responsibility to ensure that the Virginia Summer Institute for Addiction Studies as a reputable and credible conference. Individual reservations must be made on or before Wednesday, June 14, 2017 (the Reservations Due Date) via the Hotel’s on line reservations PASSKEY system by providing the Group name or code or by calling 800-261-9530 between the hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm EST, Monday through Friday. All individual lodging reservations must be accompanied by a one night’s deposit for room and tax. If lodging reservations will be made via a rooming list, Group will provide the list to Hotel in Hotel’s room list format no later than the Reservations Due Date. The Hotel will release to its general inventory all rooms in the Group’s block that have not been reserved in accordance with this section by the Reservations Due Date. Any reservation request made after the Reservations Due Date may be confirmed on a space and rate available basis. Individual deposits are refundable, provided notice of cancellation is received by the Hotel by 5 P.M. local Hotel time at least three business (3) days prior to reserved date of arrival.

All room rates quoted are 2017 daily, single or double occupancy under the European Plan (no meals included, however, please note rates at the Williamsburg Woodlands includes a complimentary continental breakfast daily in the mail lobby of the hotel). These rates are net, non-commissionable and are subject to prevailing government per diem rates, currently $104, and subject to taxes applicable at the time of the stay, and $2.00 per room per night occupancy tax. The special guest room rates agreed to above will apply three days (3) before and after the dates of the 2017 VSIAS Conference. These rates are subject to the availability of guest rooms.

3-We send you an e-mail confirmation! You must bring this letter with you to the conference. We will not provide a copy of your sessions at the conference.

Your session choice is on a first-come, first-served basis. Register early! A waiting list will be generated once a class is full. In order to get credit for attending your selected session, you must show up on time, or risk not being able to attend that session. (See Credit for Attendance above.) Some sessions are Limited Sessions. These sessions go quickly, so sign up early.

We accept Master Card, Visa, Discover, and American Express online through PayPal.

We accept Purchase Orders. All Purchase Order payments must be received prior to the conference to be fully registered.

ALL cancellations must be received in writing before the day of the conference. If you cancel up until July 1, 2017, there is a $50 cancellation fee. If you cancel after July 1, 2017, there is a $75 cancellation fee.

If session registration is too low, that session may be cancelled and you will be notified.


Grab and Go Box Lunch Meals are free with your 2017 VSIAS registration on Monday and Wednesday. There is no Box Lunch on Tuesday. There is an Awards Luncheon, which costs $5.00 per participant. You will need a paid lunch ticket in order to attend the Awards Luncheon. If you do not buy an Awards Luncheon ticket, lunch is on your own on Tuesday. The Bronze and Silver Level Exhibitors do not get lunch with their exhibit fee. Gold Level Exhibitors have meals included all 3 days and do not pay for the Awards Luncheon.


VSIAS 2017 Awards Luncheon

Tuesday, July 18 from 11:45 – 1:00 PM

The Virginia Summer Institute for Addiction Studies, along with VAAP and VATARP will be presenting the following awards at the VSIAS 2017 Awards Luncheon.

VSIAS will be presenting the Visionary Leadership Award (VLA) to an individual who has demonstrated significant leadership and contribution to the substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery field.

VAAP will present the Walter Kloetzli, Counselor of the Year, and Distinguished Service Award. VATARP will be presenting two awards, the Ginger Acey and Program of Excellence.

Space is limited. Cost is $5.00. Please go online to register and pay at www.vsias.org.


You may be asked by the speaker to download your handouts prior to attending the conference. If so, this means handouts will not be available at the session. Please check each “Speaker’s Write-up” to see if hand-outs are available on-line prior to attending.
